Just saw in the new issue of Triathlete Mag that they changed the swim to protected inland for 2013. No cancelling the swim anymore. Considering the drive over to Nola from Houston now...

Would be a great tune-up for 140.6 IMTX 4 weeks later.

This one is on the radar for me this year.  I saw the current registration is $150, does anyone know what it goes up to if I don't register this week?  I figure with the recent issues this one won't sell out soon, if at all.

Thanks,

Chris

Just pulled the trigger, 30 minutes before the price increase!  Looks like I now have an A race on the schedule.  Even better, I'm taking my parents with as an anniversary gift.  They were married about a half hour from the race site.  Hope to see some BTers there.

All of the races down here have at least one and sometimes two for a sprint, only 4 for a HIM doesn't seem too bad.

Anyone know if the water temperature would require a wetsuit? I'm not sure if April would have enough high temps to warm up the water.

I'm in too! Battling a stress fracture and may just take the month of December off running and see how that helps. Good luck training and avoiding the battle of the bulge over the holidays everyone.

I too am wondering about wetsuit legal water temps April 21st.

I have looked at projected forcasts and previous and really won't know until that date gets closer.

That can't be correct! It probably isn't that cold now.

Hi Everyone - Just signed up. This will be my second HIM with the first being this past April in Tempe, AZ. Last one went okay but a couple of popped spokes on the bike made the day a lot harder than was necessary. But I finished and that was my main goal. This year I'm hoping to improve. Looking forward to following everyone's training over the next four months.

I finally found the right NOAA page. Current water temp is 68*. I'm not sure how that other site shows 55* in Aug.

yea that 54 in august is definitely not right.  I hope we can wear our wetsuits in the swim.  I am thinking the temps will be borderline legal April 21st.

My wife and I are gearing up for our first HIM at New Orleans (and our 1st full at IMAZ).

After one season on road bikes, we are planning to buy tri bikes.  But is the course is more conducive to road bikes?

Thanks in advance for the advice!

I am also doing both and YOU HAVE TO USE TRI BIKES all year to get ready for IMAZ. Too much time savings to stay on a road bike at NOLA.
