Pre-race routine:

My sister in law(SIL) and I were on time and ready to go. We topped off just before we headed out to Gernville which was about 30 min from our hotel. SIL broke the stem to a tire. Great. Ive never changed a road tire but she had many times. TICK TOCK .....At about 25 min into it she finally got it. Loaded the bike up and off we went.
Event warmup:

Got to Gernville with 30 minutes to spare. SIL hopped on her bike and heard some funky noise. Turned out her derailer was on the way out. Repair guy secured it as much as possible and we ran to bike transition to set up.
I was surprised to see so many people in wetsuits but had expected to wear mine. So I Put it on and headed down to water with about 10 before wave went out. Noticed some "odd" stares on my way down to the water. As it turned out I had my dang wetsuit on BACKWARDS!! BACKWARDS!! OMG

Comments:

My goal was not to walk at any point during the swim and I didnt. The first 5 or so minutes of the swim were tough. Breathing & exaustiion took over and I went to the sidestroke to catch my breath then back to a solid swim the remainder of the course.
What would you do differently?:

I need to work on those first few minutes of ALL my training swims. Its common for me to get exausted those first few 100 yds

WETSUIT STRIPPERS. Wow. I loved it!!!
What would you do differently?:

Note to self: Wetsuit zipper goes in BACK!! :|

Comments:

It was a good ride for me.
What would you do differently?:

I can always ride more.
Post race
Warm down:

Directly to potty. Holding pee for 56 miles is...um....painful. Now I get why some choose to pee on thier bikes. .....but i could NEVER!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Since there was no run after the bike I went all out on the bike.

Course: Unbelievable course. Vinyards & more vinyards. Stunning. The course was not nearly as difficult as the country roads where I train. There were 2-3 tough hills. The hill @ mile 47 had me at 5 mph.. But I LOVED the flat road areas!!! It was great to ride @ 18-22 mph for several miles!- i dont have flats like those !
