Holy Guacamole! Just saw the forecast.  Packing is going to be a challenge.  Looks like I have to dig out some of the clothes I put away for the winter.

This may not be a race for the record books for me (warm weather, under trained) but I am still excited.  I am counting down until I leave Friday night.

Weather has me irritated.  I would rather have last year's weather over this.

I know this is the 1/2 marathon thread, but I can't find a good one about the full.    So I'm posting here.

Definitely wearing my belt.  I still pretty excited even though the weather is not cooperating.  I was looking forward to a cool run in the 40's.

I agree on the weather. I just ran this past weekend on snow packed trails in Canada, so it will be a little different. My training plan has my max run at 10 miles so this will be my first 13.1. I have never been a runner and aside from a tiny brief calf strain from under stretching it has been injury free. At 6 foot 3 inches and 205lbs I do not really have a runners body and have tried my best not to hurt myself as I build volume. This race is basically to get me ready for Galveston 70.3.

I realize some of you like the cold weather but I have ran either the relay, half, or full in each of the last 5 years of this race and I will take a day in the 60's over the 30 degree weather this race had last year. I had never been so miserable in my life as I was running in the rain with freezing tempatures. Plus if you have been training in the nort texas areas you should be pretty use to this tempature. Just my 2 cents but I know everyone is different. I'm hoping for a PR.

My most miserable run ever.

Finished the whole in just under 5 hours.  Goal was 4:40.

I was about the same (goal 4:30 - Actual 4:50), almost everyone I knew who ran finished between 20 minutes to an hour over pace.

Conditions were tough with the 65F weather and very high humidity.  In addition, I thought the half-marathon course was harder than last year with more elevation changes.  Having said that, still managed to PR by over 3 minutes and came in at 1:36:59.  About 45 sec of that was from a porta-john break between Mile 2 and 3 (hung around the Corral waiting for start too long and then didn't have time to hit the restroom prior to the start as it was too crowded to move).

McMillan predicted time from my 10K PR in October was 1:36:41 so it was actually pretty spot on (the 10K was pretty hilly but 20 degrees cooler).

I ran this race after doing a HIM in September and Marine Corps Marathon on 10/28. I did it on a whim just wanting to get time on my feet (signed up for grasslands 50M this spring). My group needed someone to coach a pair of first timers in so I ran with them, other than one of them puking a few times during the the last half of the race they did awesome. Got them across in 4:49, almost an hour slower than where I would be on my own, but it was worth it to see them finish their first.

Last year's weather was WORSE than this year's. I'll take 60 and the humidity over 38-45 and a monsoon.

This was my first running event, missed my goal time by 19 seconds.  I thought running over the bridge was pretty cool, and all the bands the first few miles.  Can't wait to do this event next year.
