Another question.  Warm-up swims. My daughter has a soccer game on Saturday and I won't get up to Sandusky until 2:30ish, so I'll miss the official warm up swim.  Does anyone recall from past experience swimming outside of the "official" practice swims?  For example, if I swim at 3PM in the lake on my own, will that be permitted or will someone chase me down (Which isn't too difficult BTW)?

Also, what about race morning?  Anybody out swimming to get used to the water before the half start. My wave goes off at 8:30,  I don't want to warm up at 7AM prior to the Full start and then sit around shivering for another hour and half.

Any insight from those previously doing the race would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, I'll be the other white guy in the wetsuit.

when I was at the preview they said nobody can warm up on the official swim course, however you can swim in another designated area.

ughhh, I can't believe my wave doesn't start until 8:50 On the other hand atleast it will be a bit warmer getting out of the water.

You can swim anytime the beach is open on saturday (assuming weather is OK and there arent red flags out). People were lounging/warming up in the water next to the course the last two years - as long as you were far enough away not to be in the course area it was ok

SEADOCHA - 2012-09-07 8:12 AM anyone know if they offer a water station before you hit the run in transition

I'm pretty sure (if I remember right) there is one as you come out of transition? Bananatoes do you remember? I think I was more concerned with finding a porta-potty (which is right in transition from bike to run).

I thought htere was a water station on the way out from transition.  I definitely remember it coming in to finish.  If not, there's one 1 mile out on the run + a porta-potty.

I'll be waiting all 2.5 hours at the race as my husband and kids are going back to the hotel after they drop me off.  You girls are lucky.  I have to wait until 8:55.  5 whole minutes longer than you!!!!!!!!  It stinks getting old.  Cry

Dunno what I'm wearing yet.  Probably green and black Pearl Izumi, but I'm bringing a "throw-away" shirt to keep warm while I wait.

runk8run-- I think I almost saw you as I was walking over to your bike rack...  you were leaving on my approach, so I didn't bother to stop you.

But to bananatoes, Danielle, Dean, and other BTers-- sorry I left so soon.  My medicine was wearing out and I just wanted to get home.  So, more formally-- Goodbye!  It was great to see you again!

Blue tri suit and pigtails? If so, that was me! I looked for you but I missed you. Sorry that I didn't get to meet anyone! At 3:00 Saturday I was done with everything. I wasn't too sure about sticking around longer and husband was ready to leave. I deferred to him when I could since he did an awful lot for me this weekend! Plus, I bet Fridays at breakers was hella expensive!!

I hope everyone had a great race.  I had an incredible race.  One that I cannot believe I could have done had some one with a crystal ball told me it play out that way.

I just posted my RR a few minutes ago.  Fair warning, it is long winded.
