Comments:

My second open water race. Overall, I'm pleased. I think I could have focused on better form in spots. Sighting was off a few times. Pace (1:42/100yd) is about where it has been since concluding Master Swim sessions for the summer. I could have easily held the pace for quite a bit longer.
What would you do differently?:

Not much ... this represents where I think my current fitness level resides. Looking forward to another year with Master Swim.
Transition 1
  • 01m 59s
Comments:

The bike racks were very close to one another, so I opted to stand at the end of the rack and remove my suit before heading in to grab the bike. Sat on the ground to put on socks and shoes.
What would you do differently?:

Still wondering if I should go sockless, but I just don't think I'd want to run that way, so I may as well put socks on for the bike as well. I don't feel a huge need to have my shoes attached to the bike at this point, but I suppose it'd be worth exploring for sprint and Oly distances.

Comments:

Managed the course fairly well. Passed 8 people and was passed by 3. Those that passed me did so on the one significant climb of the course.
What would you do differently?:

Still need to improve my climbing.
Transition 2
  • 01m 9s
Comments:

Racked my bike and realized I was one rack off of where I was supposed to be. This cost me 15 seconds. Shoes went on quickly.
What would you do differently?:

Rack my bike in the appropriate spot.
Run
  • 47m 35s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 07m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

Could not find my pace. Nothing in my legs. My stand alone 10k should be about 41-42 minutes on this course, and I'm not comfortable with the gap between that and this time. Disappointed.
What would you do differently?:

Need to run better off the bike. My bike fitness is improving at rate I like, and I would not have ridden any less hard on this course. I need to do more bike/run brick work.

My run.

Event comments:

Great venue and well organized race. Disappointed to learn after the fact that this did not qualify for the National Championships as it had been advertised.
