Comments:

Two lap triangle. The water and debris were pretty churned up by the time I entered the race. I hadn't been in my wetsuit for a while, and it felt more constrictive than I remembered. Need to wear it more often.
The water was shallow, but swimmable.
The ratings above represent my feeling about my swim, not the course or organization.
What would you do differently?:

Practice in the wetsuit more

According to my wife and her family, I ran a three minute negative split for the second 5k. For this uncorraborared news, I bought them lunch. Choose your
cheering section wisely and reward them.

Event comments:

A great small race with a really fantastic group of volunteers and organizers. You can't go wrong with a race that offers PBJs at the finish----unless you're one of those people who require having the crusts cut off.
I had a great time---this was my first Oly distance as I prepare for a HIM in October and it was more challenging than I expected. A great vibe all around

Congrats on surviving what was no doubt a tough course!  The title of the report caught my eye as I grew up in Oxford and spent many, many hours running hilly loops of Hueston Woods. Mom's a cyclist and her favored family recreation plan involved cycling out Brown Road to the lake, renting a paddleboat to pedal around the lake, and then cycling back. Plus I'm sure I swam in the lake, too. Early roots for triathlon. Yes, it's always uphill in every direction, especially, in  my recollection, if you're on a bike. Say hello to Oxford for me! Cool that there's now a tri--it was always a great running town.

The name of the tri caught my attention too as I've heard of Hueston Woods State Park and I love camping and racing. I'll have to look into it next year. Congratulations on your first Oly finish! You made me laugh when you said to pick your cheering section wisely. Funny guy. Way to negative split!
