Pre-race routine:

Bagel, bananna, gatorade, water (a bit too much)
Event warmup:

Started near middle of pack. The plan was to run the first 2km easy and work into the race- HR was 160-165 first 2km. Between 2-5km I upped the pace a bit, HR about 164-167. Form felt great. As planned, no pace check until 5km; when I looked at my watch I was dissapoiinted to see 26:15- I felt much faster. Oh well, I thought I had a good split so I picked up the pace. The last 5km were much higher RPE, and the HR was over 170 for the last 12min. Passed about 5 people, no one passed me. Form felt good, but unfortunately, the second half wasn't much faster than the forst 5km.
