Overall Rank = 139/701
Age Group = M35-39
Age Group Rank = 32/64
Pre-race routine:

Got there plenty early, set up in the dark and rain.
Event warmup:

Got a shortish run in pushing it a bit.
Swim
  • 07m 52s
  • 528 yards
  • 01m 29s / 100 yards
Comments:

Strong swim, but definitely was not a full .3. Shallow out and in caused a lot of running and terrible dolphin kicks.
Transition 1
  • 02m 40s
Comments:

Going with the Chip time here.Great coming out of the water, and getting helmeted up, but still having trouble getting going with shoes preclipped. Couldn't get momentum to get shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

Rethink strategy about preclip, maybe try the elastics, or just go with the shoes on at T
Bike

  • 15 miles
  • 18.05 mile/hr
Comments:

Happy with the bike. Kept a good pace up, definitely passed more people than passed me, which is rare. Had a bit of trouble at time shifting from small ring to big ring. Can't replicate. The wet roads made things a bit sketchy.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Continue to gain confidence in aero at speed downhill.
Transition 2
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

Great T2. I continue to be happy with my efforts here. No F'n around, just take off the helmet, put on the shoes and go man.
Run
  • 23m 4s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 07m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

There's no way this was 3.1. My watch and my buddy's watch both said 2.85. I had a good run, but not THAT good. Either way I'm thrilled with this run.
What would you do differently?:

nothing.
Post race
Warm down:

Enjoyed conversation with some friends, some great post race grub, and a well earned Silver Bullet.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

rain, wet course.

Event comments:

This race was a lot of run, would love to do it again if i don't do the half next year.
