I will for sure take a hurricane over a tornado. Those things are serious bad news.

In other news, I live in the same neighborhood as my brother and drive past his house every morning on my way to work. This morning as I was leaving I noticed a suspicious car parked at his house. He had already left for work. I saw a man get out of the car and stand there watching me drive by. So I decided to drive up the street a bit where I could see the house. The dude stole my brother's generator out of his storage shed! So I whipped the truck around and tried to block him from getting out of the subdivision. He ran off the road, almost hit my truck and got past me. I tried to get his tag number from my rear view mirror. I turned around again and was able to just see as he turned up a street, so I followed him. He went HOME, I got his tag number and we filed a report with the sheriff. Unfortunately he had left by the time the sheriff went by his house. I'm sure he either dumped the generator or took it to a friend's house. Best part? My bro worked on the generator for 2 hours yesterday and couldn't get it to run. Dude stole a broken generator. HAHA.

See? People are freaking out here.

*GASP*!! What an a-hole! Oh, that makes me mad!
The sad part is that people share. They come together when it gets bad. I know my mom & her neighbors & our family shares. Or we bring people over.

I cooked a bunch, had stuff in the crockpots last night. I've already started giving some away so people have it when they lose power!

That's a shame.

I'm praying for you guys out there. Especially for people to act civil after the storm.  Sounds like that dude acted uncivil before the storm...

We had some branches fall, some flooding in lower-areas, but it looks like it's strengthened a bit.

As of now, it's FAR less severe than the bad thunderstorms we get. NOTHING. I'm bored. Not lightning. No thunder. It'll probably get worse later, but still, nothing like severe storms on any other day...

media sensationalism!!

For the west side of MSY...not much here.

Same in BR. Parents report...nothing. Yet

That said, CNN and the weather channel show some territory southeast of BR, and it sure as hell is raining, and blowing. Sideways.

Mom's exact words are: Isaac moonwalked...but they fully expect it to keep coming, unless told otherwise. More to come.

We're taking a beating now! Haven't gone to look outside yet, will during the eye for sure, but that's not for several more hours. Surprisingly, we still have power, but I don't expect that to last long.

Just talked to my folks in Red Stick - 15mph winds, no rain.

Stay safe, Haley.

Pretty mild here (Lafayette) as well, though it's supposed to pick up later. Office is closed but I came in to wrap up loose ends on some projects. Downtown is like a ghost town, funny considering the mild weather.

Sitting here at work watching the light rain and 15-20 mph winds out the window. Many businesses and schools are closed in town and I'm hoping the boss lets us leave work early, a nap sounds really awesome in this weather.

I have a cousin in Gulfport who has sent me some photos along the beach, the storm surge and flooding is a bit impressive down there, about 5-7 feet.

Wish we were bored. Lost power, neighbors tree went down taking power lines down. High winds and constant rain. We are south of BTR while not stronger then previous hurricanes but the length of time is pretty impressive.

Yes, this storm is moving very slowly and just pounding the same areas over and over. Flooding is a real concern, as is trees falling from the saturated ground and wind. It's not terribly windy here yet, but there is a band of rough stuff heading our way. I'm hoping this storm gets its act together and moves on out.

Hope everyone down there is fairing okay!

There must still be a ton of places out of electricity, b/c the facebook posts have vastly decreased out of Thibodaux and Morgan City.
I've sent a few texts out to family in NOLA and surrounding area, but haven't heard back from anyone yet.

THANK GOODNESS for DirectTV, I've actually been able to follow the local news out of NOLA

TAKE CARE Y'ALL!!!  (don't forget to eat the ice cream FIRST when the electricity goes out   )

Thursday morning, here in Monroe (NE LA) its a tad windy with steady winds of 40+mph. Raining sideways and thats just before the East side of the 'eye' comes over. Small patches of power outages no flooding. So far so good.

We live in St. John the Baptist parish. If anyone is following the news, it's bad. 3 of our family members lost their houses or had to be evacuated by boat. This area took a hard hit, and this Cat. 1, that no one was worried about, did WAY more damage than Karina. It just didn't move, the water has nowhere to go. Sigh. It sucks to say the least. We don't have power, I just got cell signal on my iPad. It's sill raining...since Tuesday. Yeah. Not sure what to say here. Pretty shocked by it all.
