Bike
Comments: I've never cramped so bad in my life, and never had both calves cramped up during the bike leg. Cramping was so bad that I couldn't make one of the bike turn around, lost my balance and fell with my foot still clipped in. The cop has to get my foot off and helped me stand to stretch my calf. Transition 2
Comments: Cramps on calves and toes continue and were so bad I had trouble even standing up to stretch my calf and change my shoes. Run
Comments: Total sufferfest. Walked more than ran, passed by a 70 sth man who urged me not to give up. What limited your ability to perform faster: Cramping of calves and toes from beginning to end. Event comments: One of the worst race in recent memory. Cramping in the calf and toes from beginning to end. Not sure why. But it's a small turnout, and I came in 2nd to qualify for the 2013 Du Worlds in Ottawa. Went to see doc 4 days after. CK test indicates serious muscle damage. CK level for normal people is <300. Mine > 13,000. Dr is very worried. Will need to see internal medicine specialist to see if sth else is wrong. Hope it's just because it's a long race, lack of fitness, and too much racing over the last month. Last updated: 2012-07-29 12:00 AM

At the prerace briefing at the Toronto Triathlon Festival last wk, ITU announced that the 2013 Du Worlds will now be held in Ottawa. And the only qualifying race left is Cobourg. So that's why I'm doing this race, even though I don't have the fitness and is still tired from the 3 races over the last month. I registered on race day. I figure this would be a very long training day. My objective is to complete, not to race. I figure if I finish, there is a good chance I can qualify. Du's are not very popular and very few in my AG typically show up.
