Pre-race routine:

PB&J and a banana about an hour before the race. Got to transition a little late and met up with the club. Went into the race with low expectations after the 20 mile run yesterday. Looking at this as good recovery and just to represent the Club.
Event warmup:

None
Swim
  • 16m 25s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 52s / 100 yards
Comments:

Long run through the sand was taxing.
What would you do differently?:

More time in the water, work on sighting.
Transition 1
  • 06m 41s
Comments:

Had the bike in a good gear and passed several people going uphill out of transition.
What would you do differently?:

Need to figure out a good way to rinse feet, because of the long run through the sand.

Overall a decent ride. Took corners carefully and avoided the carnage. Comfortable pace.

Comments:

Decent transition, smooth and quick.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 22m 57s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 39s  min/mile
Comments:

Took it easy for the first mile to stretch the legs and get warm. Both achilles were really tight form the run yesterday. Overall pace was right where I was hoping to be. Good un overall.
What would you do differently?:

Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

20 mile run yesterday in preparation for the marathon made this a casual race day. As planned the race was fun and easy.

Event comments:

Decent local Tri, lots of fun and well done.

Performance: Average
Bad current and terrible sighting but overall a decent swim. Got kicked a lot early, once in the stomach and once in the goggles. Stopped to to clear water from the goggles and get back in the rhythm.
Suit: Full
Course: Swell was ok, bad current pulled a lot of people off course. Had several rescues happen and a lot of people abandoned during the swim. Kind of surprising for such a short swim.

Course: Road was really slick from the marine layer, several bad crashes on course. Sharp turns were slick so cornering was tenuous. Good ride overall, a bit slower than expected but with the wetness it was a smart way to go.
