Event warmup:

Was FINALLY allowed on the bike course at 6am race morning, so rode one lap of the course- FUN!!! Technical with 12 turns per lap and 5 laps of a 7.5k course. My style :)
Run
  • 45m 10s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 07m 16s  min/mile
Comments:

Wanted to run 45 and paced it perfectly. Comfortably hard. Lost Trixie on the 2nd lap... thought she was just loafing, but I lost her :(
What would you do differently?:

Not much, really was the perfect pace for what I was setting out to do. Comfortably hard, but had fun enough to smile for Danielle, Ruth, Gina, Dean... every time I ran past. Tim Y from USAT was AWESOME cheering and pacing- giving us info and encouragement.
Transition 1
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

Tough couple of turns to start and fumbled with my shoes. but better than most I think.
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 1h 10m
  • 38 kms
  • 32.57 km/hr
Comments:

LOVED the technical course!! Just wish I were in better shape to USE it.
What would you do differently?:

not much- I did what I could.

Transition 2
  • 01m 54s
Comments:

LONG transition with full double serpentine on this end. Feet were dead and legs wobbly, but did what I could
Run
  • 24m 11s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Originally thought this was AWFUL, but really no one else did much better. Beat both Val and Dean in the 2nd run- and they are RUNNERS. So I feel good that I was even this fast :) But it DID hurt like hell.
What would you do differently?:

Build up a bigger run base!
Post race
Warm down:

walked a bit and watched everyone else finish :)

Event comments:

GREAT venue for a world champ race. Loved the square and the diverse course. It WAS close and technical, but overall good race :)

Course: Four laps of 2.5k +/- Cobbles through square, partly paved, part dirt through park. NICE run, but a little harder than it looked on paper. Jeff and Tim from Team USA were on the out/ back near the transition turn around. LOTS of people cheering on the course and a TON from GB- probably more GB than France!

5 laps... on the 2nd lap I saw Ed M. get off his bike and slowed to make sure that he was OK. He said he was done, but that he was OK, and to keep going. There were 12 turns per lap two of them being full 180's and with 5 laps... It was technical, but FUN. I just wish I didn't get distracted and lose count with Ed. But C'est la vie and I still had fun with it! AHR somewhere in the 180's my garmin was goofed up so no idea what the real AHR was.
Wind: Some with gusts
Course: VERY technical, fun little rolly and turny course. a little on cobbles, but mostly pavement with one REALLY tight funky turn- right/ left with BIG potholes in that corner. Windy on the one straightaway over the bridge, but overall not bad.
