Subject: RE: Jailbreak or "Root" HTC Evo?I've never done it, but be aware that uninstalling some of the pre-installed apps can cause very bad things to happen (like, apparently you should never, ever, remove GoogleChat or 'IMPlugins' ). "Bad" being defined as crashing your phone on boot. You likely will want to first try "freezing" an app for a few days before actually removing it.
If you just search teh internets for "android root EVO" you should be able to find a bunch of utilities, walkthroughs, and probably even several newbie friendly tutorials that, as long as you follow them explicitly, should get you where you want to be.
I had looked into rooting my HTC Rezound because I wanted to be able to enable WiFi Hotspots without paying the ransom; instead of going that route, I just decided to use the free FoxFi app. |
