Subject: When did the NCAA get replacement officials?

Wow.... Stanford just fell to Notre Dame on a call that was every bit as bad as the call at the end of the Green Bay-Seattle game. What is the point of having review if you are going to blow the call that you already blew on the field.

Notre Dame was already given an extra 15 yards on their game tying drive with the worst personal foul call of the year. When the QB runs like a RB, he has to be prepared to be hit like a running back. To throw a flag for hitting a player who isn't down yet and isn't defenseless even by the current rules is laughable.

The sad part is that Notre Dame will now likely be a BCS team, even if they drop the games to USC and Oklahoma.

X 2. Looked to me like the play was still going and he placed the ball across the plane.

50/50 call. I didn't see enough to overturn it. But I still hate the accolades thrown at Notre Dame by those who couldn't find South Bend on a map if eir lives depended on it.

Could see the replay call going either way. If it were called a TD it would have been upheld also. As far as the penalty there is no doubt that should have been called. It was clearly (unless you are looking at it thru anti ND glasses) helmet to helmet.

I am not an ND fan but I do like the fact that they are relevant again. I just wish the Buckeyes had their defense.

Yes, there was obvious contact to the head of the runner. Fortunately that isn't a penalty or we would see a flag thrown every time a running back go head first into the line. Helmet to helmet hits are only a penalty if the defensive player intentionally targets the helmet or if the player is deemed defenseless, such as a receiver at the time of catch or a QB in the pocket. Neither of those apply in this case. Once the QB becomes a runner all bets are off. Unfortunately it is now being called on any violent hit. Saw it applied incorrectly multiple times yesterday.
