SWAM AN EXTRA 50.
I was trying to count on my own, and when I thought I had one length left, the volunteer didn't put the stop sign in the water. I figured I miscounted and kept swimming, after the next 25, I realized the girl in the lane next to me was gone, and she hadn't lapped me. What else could I do but swim back to the other end and get out? Missed the podium by a minute, and that was 40 seconds right there.
I wasn't 100% sure until my friends spectating told me that the lap counter signled me and the guy I lapped to get out at the same time.

Otherwise, swim was fine. Drafted the girl next to me for the first 300 or so until she pulled away.
What would you do differently?:

Trust my counting.

Estimate. Time lumped in with bike split.

Practice, of course.

Comments:

I just tried to haul it as hard as I could. I passed a lot of people, especially on Euclid where the road was a mess.

I thought I'd hate the 3 loop course, but with the exception of the road conditions on one section, it was good. It got crowded, but I tried to just stay in my zone and race my race.
What would you do differently?:

Practiec turning corners.
Transition 2

Comments:

Time estimate again - based on my bike computer, that split was accurate, so I guess a minute for each transition.

Comments:

Just decided to go hard. With the knee, my mileage has been super-low lately. So, I saw Chrissy, and I tried to catch her. There were a bunch of spectators, which was cool, and I ran solo the entire time. Not my best run, but for my training lately, I couldn't have asked for much more.

I wasn't sure I could, but I made up some ground and ended up missing her by a minute.

Event comments:

Bummed with my last performance of the season. Not a great feeling.

It was nice seeing you yesterday. Bummer about the counting. Your age group was also super-competitive this time. It changes a lot from race to race in this series.

I look forward to more close races with you in the future.

Great job, Elaine!  Too bad about the miscounted swim distance.  What a great name for a race, Tinfoilman!

Nice job Elaine!  Bummer about the extra 50, podium would have been nice.  Super job on the run, it wasn't like you cruised it on the bike, 20+ mph sweeeeeeet!
