PETER REID HAS ANNOUNCED HIS RETIREMENT FROM THE SPORT..... I'm sure this stirrs a lot of mixed emotions... Both Happy and Sad, he certainly is up there as one of the greatest!!! (I think he's got the most Ironman 1st places, 10 IM and 3 World IM's? Plus all the other top finishes....)

Triathlete Mag has an interview in their next issue, I think August? He made the decision after St. Croix, but waited to working things out with his sponsors before going public.

GOOD LUCK PETE!!! You'll always be an inspiration to us!!!!

Are you sure about this???  Where did you get the info?  I am hoping it is a rumour as he is such a great guy for the sport.

It's too bad, we live in the same city and I used to see him down at the bike shops and running shops quite often, he is a really nice guy and an inspiration to a lot of us, good luck in the future Peter.

I have to admit I've never been all that big a fan of Peter Reid. Not sure why; maybe it has something to do with a quote I read where he said he was happy to see Stadler win IM Hawaii, but wouldn't have been happy if Lessing had won. I'm sure I don't know the whole story.

Still, amazing career. You can count on one hand the number of men who have won IMH 3 or more times and still have fingers left over.
