Subject: RE: AR15 buildpowerman - 2012-11-21 1:54 PM So what is the story with building your own? Is it just like everything else... DIY, use the parts you want... or is it cheaper, or what? My first impression is and I don't believe it's an apples to apples comparison but more of a project and learning experience, knowing what makes it tick,,,, or go boom. It looks like there are some significant differences between twist rate on the barrel, I'm not sure of the benefits and drawbacks of each, the load/grain of bullet you are shooting and what your intended purpose play into getting the correct twist. Metal or Poly lower, with the quality of poly, I'm leaning to the poly. I saw a complete poly lower for about $100. the pic showed a butt stock included, I don't know if it was or not. I can't find it now though. I wasn't aware of what it appears how easy it is to change uppers and it looks like you can just as easily change calibers when changing uppers. Although uppers are pretty dang expensive. I also got to looking at the AK's a lot of appeal there both cost and cost of ammo.... Anyway, lots of stuff to explore, thanks to everyone for the tips and info. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone ETA Found it Edited by crusevegas 2012-11-21 4:25 PM
