Originally posted by avisser Hey fellow mussel people! I am training hard. I recently heard the lake is cold but no one has mentioned that. Any of you veterans feel that way?? I'm so excited. Doing a decent bike run brick tomorrow. Hoping it feels ok. I did Rev 3 in Ct earlier this month and bonked on the run. Hoping for a better showing. Happy training. ann

I am sure the lake is cold, I haven't heard the temperatures but Canandaigua Lake is still in the low 60's and it usually warms up faster than Seneca Lake.  We have almost 4 weeks so with a little warm weather it can change a lot between now and race day.

I read a race report last night that said you can swim on your own after the sprint, but the water was really shallow for where they allowed you to swim.

on another note. Is this run hilly???

I am not sure about the swimming, but I can answer about the run.

The first 3 miles are pancake flat, as are the last 3 since you are pretty much on the same path coming in as you went out on.  In between there are some pretty good ups and downs.  The 1st significant climb is relatively short, and you could walk the stairs that go up besides the hill.  Then there is a gravel farm road about mile 7 - 8 I think that is pretty steep and maybe a half mile long.

I will see if there is a profile available somewhere to post.

I drove the bike and run course two days ago. The bike is not as hilly as I expected, but the run is hillier than I expected it would be. I wish it were the other way around because I am much stronger on the bike than the run!!!! It will be a long, slow run for me!!

Hey everyone! Only two more days until it's go time! I LOVE this race! I'm posting here to invite BTers to stop by my tent in the team tent area and introduce yourself. It will be the one with banners for the two companies in my signature line. We're hosting it to be a home base for the athletes from SC PA, but I'd welcome the opportunity to meet some fellow BTers. Please don't be shy.

Don - I was planning to stop by after the race to say hello, but I was too worn out. I wilted on the run - my body just doesn't do well in such heat. Oh well. Maybe next year.

How did your athletes do?

And btw, what horrible accidents this weekend. I saw the woman on the ground at the aid station...I really hope she's ok.
