Just speculating, but I wonder if WTC is considering the Lawrence Tri as their 5150 date (that is if they are even continuing the series)? This past year, the Lawrence Tri did not line up on the same date as any other 5150 events. We know that they are not averse to "taking over" an existing event. Same RD as previous 5150 and the timing would be more KC-area friendly as it would not conflict with KC Tri. Perhaps Silverback did Lawrence Tri last year as a bit of a "test run" to study registrations, interest, execution strategy, etc. Just a thought. (or maybe it's a hope as I think many would like to do KC Tri AND a local 5150 event). The fact that the Lawrence Tri seemed to kind of appear out of nowhere after the KC Tri cancellation debacle and seemed to be fed by the free registration offer makes me wonder about the longer term business strategy
I would love this. I did the sprint there this year and loved it. Roads were smooth, simple out and back, and the OLY gets the hillier stretch heading south along the IMKS course. Plus, no conflicts, other than being a week after SMP. |
