Subject:compression socks = higher heart rate at lower speed?
I recently picked up some 2xu compression calf sleeves, and my calves feel great since i've been wearing them, but I have noticed something odd in my last 2 runs (the only 2 with the sleeves). My HR starts of high, which is normal, but stays high (z4) until 2.5 miles in or so, then gets closer to normal, but i'm running in z2 at about a 9:15 pace where z2 is usually 8:45ish! I had a 10 mile run today and took the sleeves off at mile 5. First 5 miles was 9:30 pace, last five was a 8:55 pace at a lower HR!!
Is it just me? Should I only be using them for 'recovery jogs' ? Again, glad my calves are feeling better but I sure won't race in them!

I have no idea how compression sleeves/socks affect heart rate. However, from what I've read the general consensus seemed to be there was no real benefit from wearing them during competition, but there were noticeable benefits from wearing them after competition during recovery.
