Member 1487 Scottsdale, AZ | Subject: RE: LeadmanTri Marquee Epic 125 : Official Thread I emailed Lifetime to check on swim cut offs and the ones posted on website are not correct. Whew...was nervous about that one...esp since I'm 2nd to last wave! Ran the race course yesterday at lunch through Papago. Other than a couple areas where we got off course, it is a GREAT route and so fun! a couple places where the downhill is a bit steep but the trail is nice and a combo of trail/path by the canal. Still deciding if I want to wear my trail shoes for this one. Nothing too technical (as posted before) but will definitely have to keep eyes on the trail to avoid rolling an ankle. Looking forward to it! |

Veteran 263 Goodyear | Subject: RE: LeadmanTri Marquee Epic 125 : Official Thread Do we rack our bikes on Saturday during check in? Didn't see any instructions. Susan, don't worry about the swim. I am there with ya. Most likely I will be behind you...lol... Doing Splash N Dash on Thursday evening. Also, going to the lake Tuesday morning I think. If you would like to meet up let me know. Hoping to make the cut-off times too. |

Triacy...yes, according to their website (there's about 10 different pages on 2 sites it seems) you bring your bike down on Saturday and let it have a sleep over on the rack until you reunite with it Sunday morning. Edited by PHXATC 2013-04-04 8:38 AM |

Extreme Veteran 648 Scottsdale | Subject: RE: LeadmanTri Marquee Epic 125 : Official Thread For anyone who has done SOMA, IM AZ or other bike loop courses, although you never "get ahead" of slower riders entirely (they are riding the same loops as you), the course does thin and stretch out as time passes. In a point to point you can get ahead, but in a loop scenario (especially a 4 loop course), you are going to have continuous navigation concerns. Just remember everyone is out there doing their best - no one is purposely trying to slow you down or get in your way (if you are a faster cyclist). Don't ruin someone's day by chewing them out as you go by if they are slower and perhaps made you slow down for a few seconds to get by. That is not what this tri community is about. Just remember....we are all 'course clutter' for someone faster than us (unless you just so happen to be the fastest person on the course). |

It's not the congestion of the course that bothers me.. it's all the hairpin turns... and counting to 4. |

Hoping to make the cut-off times too. I wish I could meet you on Tuesday, but I have 2 spin classes to teach that day. I'll definitely be at the Splash n Dash though, we should meet up! will be great to see you again!!! Regarding cut offs... Here is the email I received from Stephanie at Lifetime: "Your wave being a female age 40 in the Leadman distance will begin at 7:15am. The Swim Cut off will be at 10:30am. This leaves you with a 3 Hour and 15 Min swim. From here you will have until 12:30 noon to begin your last lap of the bike. The Final cutoff for the bike course will be 1:15pm. The Run Course cut off will be 4:30pm. These are the official cut off times that have been approved by USAT. " So, a HUGE difference from what was posted on the website. No worries now. If you needed that much time to swim you sure better be one hell of a biker to make the cut off! |

Extreme Veteran 648 Scottsdale | Subject: RE: LeadmanTri Marquee Epic 125 : Official Thread Tempe Town Lake is great for sleeveless. I almost always go sleeveless for races here, including IM AZ in Nov, when the water temp is low 60's. Personally, the cold does not seem to affect me as much as the restriction in the shoulders a full suit provides, so I prefer the sleeveless, and the water temps (as of today, TTL is high 60's) should not be a factor. |

Veteran 416 Queen Creek, AZ | Subject: RE: LeadmanTri Marquee Epic 125 : Official Thread It appears, in the athlete guide, that you must attend a mandatory athlete meeting. They have 2 options: Fri at 4pm or Sat at noon. Gee, I can't make either due to other family commitments and that little thing called work. Just a warning for everybody...I guess we better plan on attending one of these in order to race. I've emailed the lady they said to email if you had questions...we will see what she says. I'm not getting good vibes about this race...late course listings, crazy U-turns, possible crowded course, now mandatory meetings with less than a weeks notice? Things that make me go hmmmmmmmm. |

What? "you must attend a mandatory athlete meeting" Where do you see this? I don't see it on the site? It just says "Noon Athlete meeting under white registration tent. Seating provided." Nothing with the word mandatory? OK. I see it. If it wasn't for your post, I would of totally missed it . Thanks for posting! Edited by Triacy 2013-04-09 8:46 PM |
