Subject: Recovery Drinks

Recently tried a few "recovery" drinks lately. I tried them because I wanted something I could keep in my gym locker at work so it was one less thing I had to worry about before the work out. When I work out from home, I don't typically use a "recovery drink," but rely more on whole foods. Also, I don't use them for any workout under 2-2.5 hours unless I have another harder workout later in the day.

First, here is a shameless plug to my thoughts on the two drinks I tried:

Second, what have you tried? What do you like/dislike and why?

I'm sure I'll get a lot of chocolate milk fans. I just can't do it after a workout, it makes me feel sick. A few hours later is ok, but not right away.

I like the Gatorade 3 series recovery formula. It a touch syrupy however I water it down. I actually prefer to race and train with it too. Its one a few sports drinks with protien.

I also use the G3.  You can get it as a "drink" or a "shake".  I've tried both styles and multiple flavors of both and they all seem to do the trick.

I use Recoverite as well as Whey Protein from Hammer Nutrition.

The Recoverite is a great all in one post-training supplement. I find it helps me bounce back into training the next day much better than some of the other drinks I have tried in the past.

Hmmm...I might have to give RecoverRite a try. A little pricey compared to the others, but I might have to give it a go.

Hammer Recoverite.  I was skeptical about drinking something post workout.  I had always had milk or a protein bar and thought that was good enough.  My wife was training for a marathon and bought some Recoverite.  After a long interval session on the bike my legs were shot (I had run 7 miles the day before too).  I tried the Recoverite on a whim and haven't stopped drinking it since.  To me, it is well worth the price. I generally get it from REI when they send me a 20% off coupon.
