Comments:

I was sooo excited to finally be at my first race! My swimming experience in my first triathlon was not very good performance wise. I was not sure what to do when I swam over people. I stopped, moved away, and got going again which was tiring. Is that what I am supposed to do, or can I just keep moving??? Is that too rude???? My thoughts the whole time were "I love this!!! Those poor people on the shore are missing out!!!"
What would you do differently?:

Now that the first one is in the books, next time I will be a wee bit more relaxed. I will do more open water swimming with groups before my second tri on August 15th
Transition 1
 • 04m 35s
Comments:

The bike racks were nearly empty, so I had an easy time finding my bike. I had a bite of banana, a Power Gel, and water.
What would you do differently?:

I would say that I dilly dally'd...4 minutes!!! I'll go faster next time.
Bike
 • 52m 27s

Comments:

Bike: A 16 year old MTB
Nice course, headwinds at times, tailwinds at others. I passed three people, I got passed by five.

What would you do differently?:

I'll get some slicks on my bike. If I win the lottery, I'll get a new bike! It's not in the budget yet, but someday..... I will go faster.
Transition 2
 • 02m 27s
Run
 • 29m 2s
 • 3.1 miles
 • 09m 22s min/mile
Comments:

I ran the entire distance with another runner. We had a sprint to the finish--she edged ahead of me in the last few yards.
Post race
Warm down:

walked for several minutes, stretched

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of Experience, I wanted to be sure I finished, so I saved too much...but I am very happy to have one under the belt and I have a time that I can improve upon next time.

Event comments:

Excellent organization, great atmosphere, well marked course, this will be an annual event for me and next time I'll bring friends!

Congratulations! Great race and your run split looks real good after biking 12 miles on a MTB. Great job.

OK Michele -- we'll exhange recognizing features later!! Do you know about the Reebok all women's Tri in Federal Way in September??? I'll be there. I did Lake Padden this past weekend and had a great time (but they didn't give any medals or rewards:-(

Judith, the next two I do are sprint distance. August is the Danskin (which was orinally to be my first, but I was getting too excited to wait)
...and to Nancy, I signed up for the Reebok Triathlon as soon as I got home from Vancouver....I think I am hooked!

Hooked you are! Same thing happened to me last year and I ended up doing 3 of them my first year. I'm doing 3 again this year and wish my schedule would allow more!!! We must look for each other at the Reebok in September.
