So, Mr Micheal Phelps is the student on the Haney Project.  I probably wouldn't watch, other than it's Phelps and I do dabble in the pool a bit.

Thoughts?  Looks like a good swing, he may have potential.  Looks like a fun life though, all kinds of travel to amazing places.  Meeting cool people.

Also, he talked about his workouts in the pool for the Olympics.  30 min warm up.  30-45 min main set and another 30 min cool down/kick set.  He said he worked out 90min to 2 hours a day?  This is straight from the Phelps himself.

That surprised me a bit.  I thought it was more?  Maybe that's average and had short days and long days (I'm assuming).

At some point I remember Phelps doing something like 80,000 meters a week which is over 11000 per day.

And that only takes him 90'

I have heard all kinds of things (and not from Phelps).  Just some writer in most cases.  This came straight out of his mouth.

Yeah, I've been watching the Haney Project with Phelps (actually I've watched all the episodes since it started) and I'm amazed at how good Phelp's swing looks.  However, he's definitely struggling to make good contact and still has a long way to go. Everyone on the show seems to think he will be scratch within a year, but that would be a pretty tall order.  We'll see how everything transpires and it is definitely interesting to watch.

Yeah, getting to scratch is tough.  I HEARD, there is even a huge leap just going from 3-4 HC to scratch.

I have no idea what his schedule is, but if his "thing" right now is to learn golf for TV, I would think it would be easy to go hit balls every day.  He didn't for a MONTH?

I would love to get paid to learn from Haney and go to the range every day.  But no one cares to see ME learn, obviously.

I also think they like to generate drama, so I think certain things are planted to create some tension.

Ironically same goes for me too.  I guess I just have to go out and win dozens of gold medals first and then they might take some interest in me (maybe).

He cut back on his training for London versus what he used to do earlier in his career.  Whether or not it affected his performance is open to speculation.  May have been to lack or motivation, or perhaps concession to age (I can certainly sympathize with the latter).

As far as the Haney Project, I watched the first couple of episodes and wasn't particularly impressed with his swing.  Also thought he came across as inarticulate and whinny.  Just found it hard to watch.

I figure he'll eventually end up on Dancing with the Stars one of these days.
