Ironman Bike Ride 2013

I've done it several times a few years ago and it has SUCKED every year.  And by SUCKED, I just mean cold and windy.  I was glad I did it when I finished, I'm thinking about doing it again this year..

I also second the "Day of" registration.  I rode in the snow one year...

This wil be year 6 for me.  And you're right J, every year the weather SUCKS!  Last year sucked bad too, but it was the nicest in the 5 i've done it.  (snow DID fall from the sky at one point last year just like all the others.)  But, it's totally fun! and the rest stops are great! Every year on the way there I think "oh my gosh, no one is going to ride this in this crap weather" and every year there are a ton of people there!  Super fun and well run. 

This is the first year it's in Wash County, but it looks like it's going to be fun courses.  I'm registered for the century, but if the weather is super craptastic, i'll prob cut down to 75.   Either way I'm in for sure.

BTW, my dad has done this ride probably close to 20 times. He remembers years when everyone was in shorts and jerseys and SWEATING!  I'm starting to think he's lying

Sounds good on the game day decision.  I can see how the weather changes a lot that time of year.

How many people tend to show up for the misery?

A lot, it's a huge event.   But as said before, it's in a different location this year after decades in the same spot.  It's hard to say what will happen.

I got an email last week saying something like 2000 people have preregistered if I remember correctly...
