Subject: RE: Trainer Road Spring Challenge 2013I retested my FTP using Sufferfest's new Rubber Glove video the other day as well. It was the first time doing a 20 minute test that I was fairly pleased with how I paced it. Normally, I seem to target too big a number, go out too hard, and just can't hang on. This time, I started a bit below where I wanted to be for the first five minutes, worked my way up to and held my target for the next ten minutes, bumped it up for the next few minutes, and then gave it all I had left for the last two minutes. And finally, for the first time ever, I didn't lose it at the end! However, I do think my target power was a little on the low side and that I actually could have pushed a little more. Of course, my ~5% increase in FTP will hurt sufficiently in my upcoming TrainerRide workouts....so I might actually have been disappointed if I'd targeted my true FTP  Increased from 190W to 201W -- will test again probably in July. |
