  • 01m 34s / 100 yards

I sighting was not great after rounding the last buoy, but overall I had a good swim.
Transition 1
  • 04m 15s

This was a long T1 - a long run across grass to get to the mount line. My time was ok compared to the field.
What would you do differently?:

  • 3h 19m 47s
  • 56 miles
  • 16.82 mile/hr

This was a hard ride under tough conditions. Disappointed with my time, but it was ok considering the course & conditions.
What would you do differently?:

Practice cornering and more hills!
Transition 2
  • 02m 31s

My T2 was ok, not bad not great
  • 1h 46m
  • 13.1 miles
  • 07m 25s  min/mile

I had a really good run. I found my stride right away and felt good the whole way. Couldn't quite catch the 1st place guy in my AG, but I was really happy with my run.
What would you do differently?:

Post race
Warm down:

Ate, tried to keep moving.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The bike - tough terrain and tough conditions.

Event comments:

Black Bear half was a tough race for sure with less than ideal conditions, especially on the bike. I used this as a stepping stone to IMLP later this year. Overall, I am very happy with my effort and my results.

I just had a couple of problems, I could count the number of triathlons I had contested at zero. Secondly, I could count on one hand the number of times I had been swimming in the last 17 years.

This is not an easy task, especially for the “9-to-5er” with family. But you can do it – all without sacrificing your marriage, job or family.
