Pre-race routine:

Worked all day, tried to stay hydrated since it was going to be so warm, clif bar and a bottle of gatorade on the way to the race
Event warmup:

quick swim to loosen up
Swim
  • 07m 21s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 50s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt like I was swimming a lot fater and harder. Got hit square in the eyes once and lost my goggles, and two other times ended up swallowing a mouthful of water, which took me a few seconds to recover from. Sighted well and really swam a straight line.
Transition 1
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

no problems here, suit came right off
Bike
  • 32m 6s
  • 12 miles
  • 22.43 mile/hr
Comments:

Really tried to push hard on the bike as evidenced by my 9th overal on the bike leg. Didn't really let anyone get away from me, and even picked a few people off
What would you do differently?:

try going harder
Transition 2
  • 00m 43s
Comments:

no problems here either
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Run
  • 23m 38s
  • 3.2 miles
  • 07m 23s  min/mile
Comments:

Tried to push on the run, but evidently it didn't help.Ran just about the same time I normally do.Got caught by a few people, but ended up passing 3 in the last mile.
What would you do differently?:

Trust myself to push harder
Post race
Warm down:

chatted with a few friends and packed up and left

Event comments:

I wanted to use this race as a test on tryign to push hard on the bike and run to see what would happen. In two weeks I'm going to try to go harder.

Chris....great race!

Your goal to push it on the bike and being able to keep same pace as ususal on the run, wow that is great!

I'll be curious how you'll do in two weeks....

Very fast ...good stuff!
