I go north from Edmonton on 97 ST and it's been great. Good sized shoulders and people have been really good about giving lots of room. Westlock and back is 160km round trip if you're looking for a century ride.

The shoulders are wide but I would be awfully nervous at the exits. I stick to the Ardrossan area, east of Sherwood Park. To get there, highway 21 is good with wide shoulders and stop lights rather than exits.

I ride Stoney Tr in Calgary and same deal exits are the issue. I have to navigate 2 but my skills are pretty good.

The triathletes really inspired me. I watched them in awe as childlike thoughts went through my head like, "I want to do that!" But then reality set in. “Who are you kidding?
