Subject: Adding strength training mid-season? Just wondering if it is a good/horrible idea to incorporate a little strength training mid-season. I just completed my first tri last week-a sprint- and have two Olympic distances coming up in 6 and 8 weeks.
The strength training that I would add would be rather light,but focused: ab workouts and arm lifting (bicep/tricep curls, pushups ). I know, I should have been doing this from day 1. Question is if this will throw off my body, creating undo soreness/tightness. During week 7 of sprint training, I had a minor hamstring strain, which I still need to nurse every now and then. Comments are much appreciated! |
