Comments:

This was my hardest run EVER! With the heat and the wind, it was very ugly.
What would you do differently?:

My legs felt tired, so I could have taken a longer taper.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked, stretch, eat.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

This was a training run, not an A race, so I am happy overall with the opportunity to train on the Island.

Event comments:

The wine after made me light headed. This was my 10th official half marathon race!!!!

Performance: Good
See Garmin Connect for data.
Course: The course was SO hot at the beginning with the wind at our backs. Then when the wind was at our faces, it felt cooler but the winds were really strong. I am guessing 15mph winds. Fluid stops every 2km which I did. Some small hills but relatively flat.
Keeping cool Bad Drinking Just right

Steady is our walk. Ignoring the pain that is radiating from my feet, I continue to place one foot in front of the other. Again I wonder, “Why am I doing this?”

This program should be used for an athlete whose goal is to run a marathon in the 1:30-2:30 range and has a good running base in the past 8-12 weeks.

I will assume you have not run consistently more than 6 miles and have never completed a half-marathon. I believe running your first half-marathon is a big task which requires dedication and work.

My training was taking off. I had never felt stronger. I was making bigger strides than I ever had. I was stronger and faster than I had imagined myself ever being.
