Subject: RE: The soul crushing of IM bike training
I too was concerned about making all cut offs - my strategy for the ride (and all of the disciplines) was to break it down into bite sized chunks. The ride is only four coffee rides (four x 45 km). When you think of it in small chunks it's much easier to get your head around and nowhere near as daunting. I made my first IM with just over half and hour to spare .. and yes the best feeling ever is running across the finish line and hearing Mike Reilly announce your name as an Ironman! Good luck but you dont actually need luck, you've done the training, believe in yourself. Over half of the challenge is mental. You CAN do it.

I have about 9k miles on my bike, what needs to be done, checked or replaced to be sure it is in tip-top shape? I'm racing IM Canada this summer.

I'm not quite half way into my IM training. I just raced a sprint and on Monday I woke up and felt like I'd been drugged! Not sore, just incredibly fatigued.

Byrn won’t hold your hand through the long hours and miles required finishing or for success in an IM, he can only show you how to get there. The work is up to you.

I may not have pre-pubescent hips or breasts and at 36 that would be ridiculous. I do not need to have an "airbrushed body" and why do I revere that?
