Overcast
Total Time = 53m 59s
Overall Rank = 220/516
Age Group = M25-29
Age Group Rank = 12/24
Pre-race routine:

Work up early, had some oatmeal and milk. Road the bike to the race (2.5 miles). Drank a bottle of gatorade prior to the race - I believe I ran in to some hydration issues in my previous 5k, so I wanted to avoid that this time.
Event warmup:

Ran through some yoga stretches, sun salutations, quads, hamstrings, calves, etc. Did some light jogging, perhaps a third of a mile total. WIth yesterday as a rest day, I felt 95%.
Run
  • 53m 59s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 08m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

My plan was to negative split the race, starting at about a 9:00/pace and working my way down. Given my splits, I did exactly that. I am very happy with the splits - I just wish they were a bit faster.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing; very solid, given my current training
Post race
Warm down:

Walked a bit, drank some water and gatorade.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Generally solid; just need more training.

Event comments:

Very well organized. The after-race was a veritable smorgasboard- bagels, fruit, drinks, granola - all kinds of good stuff.
