Makes me wonder if the word Detroit being so close to Detritus is actually a coincidence.

Next week our family is going to Michigan for vacation. Frankenmuth, and Mackinaw City. Second time. They really know how to treat tourists, and I feel I get my money's worth and then some. Michigan does have some great tourist attractions.

On our way back to Ontario, we will pass through Detroit. Mainly because we will be visiting friends in Windsor, and want to see if the "shopping" that is advertised here about detroit is everything it's cracked up to be. I won't lie though....I have a morbid curiosity to see boarded up sky scrapers and abandoned buildings. Urban exploration can be exciting.

Funny....didn't Ayn Rand write about this 60 years ago in "Atlas Shrugged?"

So at what point does bankruptcy mean something?  Now they are saying they are going to pay for a 450 million dollar arena for the Red Wings.  How does that happen.  I know the team is important to them, but they are bankrupt.  Why not use that to help with the 1 billion in unfunded pensions.  Hmmmm.

You're trying to instill logic into government dealings.  lol

Personally, I suspect the BK will be nothing more than a mechanism to allow them to re-negotiate (or eliminate) their union contracts.

The sad part is partisan politics won't allow them to genuinely realize the cause of their issues in the first place.  I suspect the elected officials will still want to be "pro union" and "pro tax the rich" after the BK and the financial log jam will hit again in the not to distant future.

They're trying to get out of paying pensions and other promised monies. That doesn't mean they even should consider not promising more.

If nominated, I will not run.
If elected, I will not serve.
