Pre-race routine:

Got to the race early for packet pick up and to eat. Got out packets and our very 3"subs from Jimmyjohns. Took everything back to the van and got the bikes. After we parked our bikes we used the porto-johns and back a bought a cookie and some chips becuase the mini subs weren't enough.
Event warmup:

No warm up, we just found a place to sit and waited to line up for our wave.

Comments:

Weather was perfect until it started to rain about mile 12. It wasn't a heavy rain so it didn't bother us too much. It quit raining after we finished but picked up again on our way home.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Post race
Warm down:

Road from the finish right to the van and loaded the bikes up. Grabbed my crocs and Karen and I went back to the party for a Blue Moon beer and icecream sandwich.

Event comments:

This is a great ride that Karen and I look forward to every year. We took about 11 minutes off last years time which shows what great improvement Karen has made this year.

Over this next month I will be learning more about my bike each time I take it out to ride. I want to take full advantage of what it has to offer.

The most valuable thing you can do for your endurance training is to schedule a weekly 2-4hr long ride from now until the end of time. Simply make this “what you do” every Saturday or Sunday morning.

I read an article that this type of pain comes from straining the neck, especially from riding a road bike. What can you tell me about this type of injury?
