We are having one of the top 5 coldest winters in history. Sure hope I haven't scared everyone off.
Sure has made it hard to get my long runs in.

It was -20 Celsius (-4 F) for my run today. However we have some gradual warming in the forecast and it should be comfortably above freezing by the weekend. I expect that I have probably done my last 8-point-per-minute activity. The challenge has been great - I have never done this much exercise in such cold weather.

We finished the winter season (Dec - Feb) with the 2nd coldest winter in history with have ave temp of 7.7F.
We broke the record for the most days with below zero temp with 56 days so far.
I went through my logs to see what the ave morning temps were for my runs. I came up with 4.3F
I would rather lose the challenge then go through another winter like this one.

It sounds like you had it a lot colder than we did in Calgary. The average temperature for my activities from Dec - Feb was 20 F. Most of my activities were later in the day. If I had done them all in the morning the average would be lower but I don't think it would have been close to 4 F.

Any reason why we're stopping now? There's still plenty of cold weather up here.

Still unseasonably cold here as well. However, my enthusiasm for sucky weather is a lot lower than it was in December. And I'm happy not to bother with the bookkeeping. By next December I'll be raring to go again.

I'm not sure if this is legal or not but I'm going to keep adding to the March totals. It's a small consolation for living up north. BTW, it's snowing again today.

Glad this is over and it is starting to warm up. Sure hope next winter isn't as bad as this one was, I would consider moving south.
Missed Bill this year pushing the points with his bike.

Hope to see everyone back next season.

The weather is too nice here for me to start thinking of winter sports. But I did notice that XC skiing has started in Canmore (1 hr drive from Calgary).

What about a shorter challenge for the winter of 2014 / 2015? Or monthly challenges? I was pretty tired of looking up weather and tracking points by the end of last year's challenge. And there were only a few of us that stuck with the challenge from start to finish. Maybe there would be more participants if it didn't last so long.
