Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Originally posted by ChrisM Originally posted by LSUfan4444 I knew hot hot it could be on the run. Hell, I told you all on he video...and I still let it cook me like a scrambled egg. Swim and bike went just like I thought it would....I left T2 at 3:16 and needed to run a 1:45 (8:15 per mile) to come in under 5 hours. Well, I ran my worst 13.1 ever. EVER. And that includes both second halves of each IM Marathon I have done. It isn't that I over biked because I think I was actually under by 3 or 4 watts, I was just flat out cooked when I walked into the run, I just didn't know it, I was expecting upper 70s and overcast and just simply got dehydrated and didnt have enough fluids. Ended up taking 2 liters of IVs and happy I gutted out to a 5:36. Anyway, congrats to all. I have a month before Gulf Coast 70.3 and some redemption. Hope you guys enjoyed the race and our city. BTW, thanks for the recommendations. My buddy had Johnny's said it was great. The only place we got to was Jacques Imos but it was AMAZING. Soft shell crab and some cornbread, abita amber. Best meal we had Awesome. It's a cool little place, glad you enjoyed it. |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Thanks for all the info. I finished in a shade under 6hrs, right in the middle of my age group. Since this was my 1st half distance, I didn't have a time goal, and would have been happy with anything under 6.5. Goal accomplished. I ran out of gas on the bike at about the 40M marker...I was waiting for that tail wind but never got it with consistency except for when I got a boost and hammered the hill on the highway late and took back a few places. I average just under 20MPH which is a bit slower than I had hoped, but again...can't complain. My new bike performed well. Shuffled through the run and battled the heat. I felt pretty well prepared although wasn't really comfortable. Walked the aid stations but refused to walk anything else. I used lots of ice on my head, heart and palms and stayed relatively composed. Overall, the event seemed to be well run and organized. My heart breaks for those two athletes that were hit on Saturday and is a sobering reminder that we never know when our time will come. |
