One (the female, of course) was smart enough to come and go as she pleased. The other (LC was his name, we called him LD after the many roof incidents) would get stuck. Many times my dad would go chase him around on the roof (low slope, low danger) until he caught him, then would kindly bring him down the ladder. That all ended one morning when dad went up on the roof not knowing it had frosted overnight and he nearly slid off. After that we attached a 1X8 board to a tree near the roof with angle brackets and a wheel on the end that could roll across the roof as the tree moved. With time and coaxing, LD finally learned that he could get down on his own. I believe the best advice about the subject came from my great aunt, God rest her soul. She told my dad "Have you ever seen a cat skeleton on a roof? The cat will come down when it wants to." BA HA HA HA HA I love this. |

Almost too bad, really. I was very much enjoying this topic. The boyfriend, I'll leave there for a while. I mean, he'll come down on his own too, right? What do you mean, I should put the ladder back up? You can't leave us hanging is suspense like this, Yanti! How did the cat get down? I'm late to the party, but I was going to suggest sling shot. She got hungry enough to follow the food trail on the flat board they'd put between the neighbor's roof and theirs (they being my boyfriend and his brother). They themselves have a flat roof so it was really easy to just grab the cat and bring her down. Kingsley was out there at the time and rather than waiting for her to continue following the food trail to the chair they had stacked on a table (easiest access down) he just went up the ladder and got her. Bonus is she did lose some weight so she's now actually cat-shaped, as opposed to being a hairy beach ball on stubby legs. I still would have voted rifle or water cannon over sling shot. Those things are really hard to aim and hit accurately.

You mean like this? I weigh her food and everything. I guess she's just big-boned
