Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

We arrived at Quassy at 3:30 and set up our bikes in the transition area.
Pinned number to extra jersey, set up sneakers for run and bike shoes for bike. Then we went to get numbered (mine was 200), picked up our race bag and put on our timing chip.
Event warmup:

Swam out to the first buoy at 5 pm just to get the feel of the water. Drank my Endurox and rested until 5:45. I was in the second wave.
Swim
  • 20m 52s
  • 900 yards
  • 02m 19s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started off at the back of the pack on purpose. Did okay until I was on the return when I veered off course a little and had to straighten myself out.
What would you do differently?:

Took the swim a little too slow because my confidence level was not there. I wanted to save strength for the bike and run, but realized that I could have pushed a lot harder
Transition 1
  • 02m 2s
Comments:

Fumbled about a little getting my bike shoes on...especially the socks. I think I may try to ride without socks next time, it may be easier.
What would you do differently?:

No socks. Move FASTER!!!!!!!!!
Bike
  • 42m 28s
  • 10.5 miles
  • 14.84 mile/hr
Comments:

I need to get faster and more confident on the bike. That requires more biking which I will do.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Transition 2
  • 01m 31s
Comments:

I did this pretty good, but maybe I don't have to double knot my shoes!
What would you do differently?:

Again, go FASTER!!!!
Run
  • 28m 37s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 09m 14s  min/mile
Comments:

Again, didn't push hard enough because of my earlier knee problem. I was afraid I would'nt be able to finish. Of course my knee did not act up.
What would you do differently?:

Run my normal 5K race which is at least a 7:45 mm.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, drank the other bottle of Endurox plus two bottles of water.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I call it testing the waters. This was my first Triathlon and I wanted to enjoy the experience and see what my body could take.

Event comments:

This is a keeper. Plan to go back next year and whoop some butt!!!!!

Well done! I must say the swim leg (900 m) seems kinda long for a sprint, but you did it in decent time. Actually, very nice times for your first tri. Congrats.

WOOOO BABY!! Excellent job Ev. I'd say you did everything just right for your first -- you triathlete you! I have found that no socks for the bike works well for me -- my feet are still damp from the swim and makes it harder to put on socks. By the end of the bike leg the feet are dry and socks go on a bit easier. You will not even realize that you are cycling without socks. Also -- I put talc in bike shoes, socks and running shoes. This seems to help me as well.

Nice race Evelyn.
