Pre-race routine:

Whole wheat english muffin, yogurt and hot tea for breakfast, banana at the race. Left the house at 7:15am, forgot money to pay for parking so found street parking. Walked to race, Got chip and dropped off gear bag. Used my inhaler before I left the house to see if it makes a difference during the run.
Event warmup:

stretched out a ran a bit at the start line. Wore fleece lined tights, wool socks, trail shoes (snow on the ground), fleece lined long sleeved shirt, cap and mittens.

Comments:

Had my own fuel belt, but didn't use it - except to hold my mittens when I got hot - was well hydrated and didn't take anything at the aid station either.

Always a fun time to see all the costumes and friends. Event coordinators did an excellent job of icing the roads and keeping the runners safe!
What would you do differently?:

line up closer to the front.
Post race
Warm down:

walk to tent, got hot chocolate on the way, cookies, soup and gear bag.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

too many people

Event comments:

Fun race! Nice start to the holiday season. Always interesting to see how the weather will be. We were expecting snow, but it never showed.

Most people believe that running barefoot is dangerous. Certainly, depending upon the surface, they would be correct. However, there is some suggestion that running barefoot may reduce injuries.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had luck with moving to a five-stroke breathing pattern. Is this okay for endurance swimming? What are its benefits and drawbacks?
