Subject: hip labral tear - Northern VA/DC area
I just had a MRI w/contrast (MRA) and the results came back positive for two tears in my left hip. Can anyone recommend an excellent hip specialist in the Northern VA/DC area. If surgery is the route I take, I was hoping get some feedback from people who have had surgeons and possible strategies they would recommend?

Hi labgeek, I was recently diagnosed with a large labral tear in my right hip. However, my x-rays and CT scan both revealed that I do NOT have a hip impingement. Hip impingement or FAI is usually the cause of labral tears so my case is rather unique. I am going the conservative route: 3 months of rest and physical therapy. My hope is that he symptoms of the tear will go away.
I’m seeing Dr. John Salvo at the Rothman Institute in Philadelphia. He is the hip specialist for the Phillies, Flyers and Eagles. It might be worth the trip north see him.

A few weeks ago I tore the MCL and ACL in my right knee and the LCL in my left knee in an accident. Can I returned to triathlon? What would that entail?

I have a torn labrum in the right hip that I'm getting surgery for this Friday. Also the doctor is grinding some bone that caused it to tear. Do you have any good ideas on returning to training?

Am I crazy to want to still pursue tri, or is it fair to assume that my body will tell me when enough is enough and enjoy it/use it until such time comes to pass?

I have noticed an occasional pain in my left hip flexor. The pain is most noticeable when running uphill. Is there a way to fix the problem without taking time off from training?

The common conditions seen would be: a femoral neck stress fracture, a hip flexor tendonitis, or a hip joint cartilage problem such as a labral tear or arthritis of the hip joint.
