Thought this went pretty good. The time doesn't reflect my walking up to the beach. I was in no hurry since I wasn't racing it. I stood up to leave the water and the watch read 31:xx which would be my fastest 1.2 so I'm fairly happy with this.

The overcast made it tough to see the buoys but I managed.

Once again, not racing so I didn't want to push myself hard with this. Even slower transition times would keep me in the right mental spot for completing my goal and not racing.

Longest half iron course ever! lol

80 miles was planned for the day so at the bike turnaround point I just kept going. Informed a HITS employee that I was going to do that and he said go for it.

Hills, hills, and more hills were on this course. Was quite crazy to be honest.

Was suppose to keep a 9/pace for the first 3 and 8/pace for the last 10. But the constant hills just wouldn't stop.

Event comments:

I thought HITS did a good job with some things and lacked on other. Growing pains for them but HUGE potential!!

I just had a couple of problems, I could count the number of triathlons I had contested at zero. Secondly, I could count on one hand the number of times I had been swimming in the last 17 years.

This is not an easy task, especially for the “9-to-5er” with family. But you can do it – all without sacrificing your marriage, job or family.

This half Ironman plan covers many weeks of challenging, but attainable training for someone who has some endurance experience, and ideally some Olympic distance races within the past season.
