Comments: I struggled after the 4 mile mark just from not being in speed shape! What would you do differently?: Nothing. Was a good run for an early season event after being sick for several weeks. I will train harder, add speed back into my weekly routine and look forward to the next event! Post race Warm down: NADA What limited your ability to perform faster: Did not do much speed work over the past 4-5 months. I deserved the time I finished in! Event comments: Well organized, good cause (Animal Rescue League of Iowa, very festive for St. Patty's Day. Would encourage a group to do this together for fun! Late run for me. Got up, had breakfast, drank coffee, cleaned house, threw in a load of laundry, packed a bag for showering at the local gym after and then drove into town to pick up a friend on the way.
We ran .8 miles from our car to the race start. Stretched a bit. Mentally was that we were "running for fun" rather than racing.
