Dexter Ann Arbor 10K - Run

Pre-race routine:

Hometown race so I got there late. Parked almost two miles from the race start so I was forced to run to the start line.

Usual coffee, oatmeal, banana pre race meal two hours before race start.
Event warmup:

About two miles of easy run with approximately 6 x 30 seconds pickups to race pace.

Comments:

This was harder than I expected. Two weeks after TTT and I could still feel some fatigue in my legs.

I thought I could be faster than this but this pace was about what I had on this day.

Overall winner was 35:59 so I have my work cut out for me if I want to run with the truly big dogs. Have to be pretty satisfied with a top 10 finish. Unfortunately most of the rally fast people were running the 13.1 so only a little bit of a victory.

When I ran the half last year I maintained the same pace for the entire 13.1 as I did for the 10K today. Bummer. But, I usually get faster as the race goes on.

Finished strong on the last, 3/4 mile, uphill, passing two people.

Warm down:

Chatted with a few folks for about ten minutes and then ran back to my car. Got home before my wife got out of bed :)

Event comments:

Ann Arbor Tradition. About my 8th or 9th time for me running some version of this race.
