Comments: Sometimes people show up and sometimes they don't. During my warmup I thought I had the race start time wrong because there were so few people warming up. Looking around as the race was about to start I thought heck I got a shot at winning this thing. The race started and a younger guy took off and I realized I wasn't winning. But a Top 5 was a definite possibility. I settled into third about a half mile in and that's where I stayed the rest of the way. The dude in second dropped me and I dropped the rest of the pack. It was tough running that fast in the heat, but I made it. What would you do differently?: I probably could have dropped 15-20 seconds off my time but I eased it in when I realized there was absolutely no one behind me. Post race
Warm down: I felt pretty dizzy for a few minutes, but after eating a stale Christmas cookie (which was horrible) and downing two bottles of water I felt better. What limited your ability to perform faster: The heat. Training. The elf hat and shorts. Event comments: I love the theme of this race and I hope the ORRRC keeps doing it. Christmas in June is awesome. Last updated: 2014-06-29 12:00 AM

I went down to the basement, dug into the Christmas decorations, and found my elf hat and shorts. If I'm gonna do a Christmas themed race in June, I'm going to do it right. Bonus: Found a bag of candy canes!
I had one stale candy cane and ran a warmup mile. The extra pair of shorts and the hat weren't the best idea I've ever had with the temperature about 82 at the start.
