hey guys, I've been on the trail once before but I met a buddy at Valley Forge and started from there. I was wondering where the best place is to park if I wanted to start at the Philly end of the trail. I know that it starts somewhere near the Art Museum but I am not completely familiar with the area down there. Where would be the most ideal place to park? Thanks in advance

There's a parking lot by Lloyd Hall (i think it's the Lloyd Hall lot), which is behind the art museum. Also, there's parking by boat house row, which is also right there. And plenty of street parking (though you may need to pay depending on the street) in Fairmount.

Did you ride today? I took a spill today, near Valley Forge. 30 miles today, but a big cut on the knee and shoulder to prove it.

I live in Fairmount, 3 blocks from the Art Museum. Not sure I would say there is plenty of street parking. When there's an event going, there's absolutely zero. Also, unless you have a residential permit, pretty much everywhere is two hour parking. Best bets are the lot next to Lloyd Hall and across the street on Pennsylvania Avenue.

You could also park in a garage in center city, just a few minutes ride to access the trail.

Definitely the safest way to avoid the dreaded Parking Authority. . If you look online you can always find discount coupons to local garages.

Not quite at the start, but the bottom of Shawmont might be an option. Safe and free.

Sorry to hear about your spill. Hopefully it's not that bad.

yes, I was out there. absolutely loved the trail. Did 47 miles. Instead of parking near the art museum, I checked google maps and found a good spot. I ended up parking off of Umbria St right near the begining of the SRT near main st. There is a train station stop that has a big parking lot on Umbria st and its about 1 mile from the start of the actual SRT. Worked out great. I can definitely see myself riding that trail more and more. Its worth the ~30 min drive down there. Love it.

At first I thought, "Oh boy, what a mistake!" Let’s face it, I could barely run half a mile, I had not swum in forever, and my biking skills were not great, to say the least.
