Event warmup:

the ride over
Swim
  • 11m 52s
  • 586 yards
  • 02m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started out kind of fast trying to draft off Amy but didn't go off course. Seemed a little longer than 500 yards but whatever
Transition 1
  • 01m 43s
Comments:

FINALLY getting better at this
Bike
  • 50m 20s
  • 15 miles
  • 17.88 mile/hr
Comments:

I definitely think I need more work on the bike
Transition 2
  • 01m 20s
Comments:

Again, much improved
Run
  • 26m 55s
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 23s  min/km
Comments:

By run time, it was pretty hot. I did fine though I thought it was a little faster. Weird pace calculation -- if it was 5k then 26.55 = 8:40--the mtec results says that 9:17 pace??

IF MY PACE WAS 8:40 THEN THIS WAS A GREAT RUN FOR ME.
Anyway, I had nothing left at the end, so it was good.
What would you do differently?:

I DRANK PLENTY TODAY AND IN THE DAYS BEFORE= NO CRAMPS!
Post race
Warm down:

NOTHING and that was a mistake--cramping and discomfort later

Event comments:

Trouble with timing made it go on a bit long, but in the end it was a fun race because so many friends there. I like the course, lots of chances to see other races on the out and backs and it's local for me so lots of friends to do it with.

The triathletes really inspired me. I watched them in awe as childlike thoughts went through my head like, "I want to do that!" But then reality set in. “Who are you kidding?

I’ve signed up to do the St. Anthony’s Olympic Triathlon in April. I will be 49 in May and need some advice on a good training program to fit into my full time work schedule.
