Total Time = 2h 16m 41s
Overall Rank = 23/275
Age Group = M45-49
Age Group Rank = 2/26
Pre-race routine:

Pop Tarts, a couple of cookies, Diet Coke, and some water.
Event warmup:

Did the race led warmup.
Swim
  • 20m 28s
  • 1000 meters
  • 02m 03s / 100 meters
Comments:

Seems a little slow, but ranking is good, so the course may have been a bit long.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Good swim.
Transition 1
  • 01m 59s
Comments:

Need to pay more attention to these. Lost 28 seconds to first place here. It's not anything major, just little things that add up.
Bike
  • 1h 08m 6s
  • 25.8 miles
  • 22.73 mile/hr
Comments:

212 watts AP. Didn't calibrate before the race, so it may be off. But since I was first in the AG, it's probably close or a little low. Great split, though. Pushed hard, but kept it reasonable. Had only 1 person pass me, 41 year old who won the masters.
What would you do differently?:

Still feel sketchy cornering. I think I'm still nervous over the skidding that happened with the flat at Couples.
Transition 2
  • 01m 7s
Comments:

Better here, even with putting socks on.
What would you do differently?:

Find shoes that don't need socks.
Run
  • 44m 59s
  • 6 miles
  • 07m 30s  min/mile
Comments:

Pretty decent run, actually. Felt slow, but 7:30s is okay. Hoping to improve on that for TriRock.
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not following through on the weight loss.

Event comments:

Beer, pizza, plenty of water and drinks. What's not to like? The only drawback was how long the awards ceremony took. But that's a nitpick and it was 2 races after all.

Spice up your training! Improve your VO2 max and threshold. If you are using this plan during the winter, you can start your specific training in the spring with a nice improvement in your speed.

This plan is designed to make you go faster. 3 workouts per week in each sport, 2 days of strength training and core work. The maximum volume is around 10 hours toward the end of the 12 weeks.

This plan is an advanced plan in terms of volume and intensity and appropriate for someone who is looking to go under 5:00 and as fast as 4:30. There isn’t a lot of fluff in the plan.

Executing this full Ironman plan for 17 weeks would give people with one Ironman under their belts very good preparation for a 2nd and 3rd. Preferably, you should have a 6:30 or faster HIM time.
