Sunny
Total Time = 2h 56m 39s
Overall Rank = 43/84
Age Group =
Age Group Rank = 36/54
Pre-race routine:

As always arrive early, double check and organize gear. Mentally go through race and transitions. Setup transition then head back to van to stay warm and relax.
Event warmup:

Waited until just be pre-race meeting. When half of the athletes arrived at beach for meeting put on wetsuit and headed over for meeting. Once half athletes were in the water, I waded out and got suit wet and myself acclimated to water.
Swim
  • 31m 55s
  • 1500 meters
  • 02m 08s / 100 meters
Comments:

Got crossed up on my buoy sighting and started heading for return buoy. Then did the same thing on the way back, this cost me lots of time.
What would you do differently?:

More open water swimming.
Transition 1
  • 04m 17s
Comments:

Transition went well, it's a long run from water to transition area so this time was acceptable. My best at this event so far.
What would you do differently?:

Run the whole way, stopped to walk.
Bike
  • 1h 16m 40s
  • 40 kms
  • 31.30 km/hr
Comments:

Good ride, having not ridden my new bike enough was worried about some of the sounds, thought I was going to get a flat and didn't have air or pump on bike so was continually thinking of that.
What would you do differently?:

New bike and legs haven't adjusted to new position. As always ride more.
Transition 2
  • 01m 32s
Comments:

Good transition
What would you do differently?:

Could have used speed laces.
Run
  • 1h 02m 17s
  • 10 kms
  • 06m 14s  min/km
Comments:

Didn't push completely as I was worried about my legs hurting from season long injuries. Ran/walked.
What would you do differently?:

Run the entire course. Brick runs off new bike will help, as my legs felt really good coming off the bike compared to all previous events.
Post race
Warm down:

Hydrated, walked around, meet up with family and got picture taken.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Season long leg injuries. I wasn't out for my best performance.

Event comments:

3D continues to put on good events.

Two years ago I weighed in at a hefty 280 lbs and was a mess. Now I'm a lean 180 lbs and train daily. What a difference healthy eating, exercise, and self discipline can make!

The three disciplines of triathlon are steeped in rhythm. Think of watching a well-trained swimmer, gliding smoothly down the lane, arms moving like clockwork, breathing every third stoke.
