Subject: RE: Good All-Around Tri Bike Wheels There are certainly people who train on their carbon "race" wheels. I think the big factor in determining whether or not you want to do that is the type of roads you're training on. If there's lots of bumps/potholes etc. that you're liable to hit, I think that would steer you away from using your nice carbons for training - you could end up cracking the carbon and then you've got to replace an expensive wheel. Training on alloy wheels is like an insurance policy - yes you are spending more to have a second set of wheels, but it protects you from having to replace a carbon one, so in the long run may be more economical anyways.
If your training roads are smooth though, then you could chance it on some carbon ones (like Flo ). Or split the difference and get alloy aero wheels (American Classic 420 for example ) which oughtta be more durable than carbon, but won't break the bank if you have to replace them.
